Description

Bärca
(Baer-ka)
A semi-open species
-
Bärca are a sentient bipedal species who settle in the farthest and coldest reaches of the Northern and Southern hemispheres. They are strange orca/bear hybrids who have developed to trade and even mingle with humans. They're a generally friendly folk, with big appetites and hardy hearts, and are known for their curiosity! Excellent swimmers, and even better hunters, builders, and craftsmen, their culture is rich with unique things to offer, from ice-like armor to whale bone tools. Also easy to befriend, many humans are no longer surprised to see these guys moving in to their cities and towns!

Semi-Open?

It is free to make your own Bärca, however you must restrict your design to the common traits!

Details to note for your MYO include:
-Must have the eye spot marking! This is a spot around the eye. It can be any color, shape, size, but must not extend past the neck and must completely envelop the eye.
-Eyes are bright and can be any color, think of them like a marble! The pupil must be round.
-Their claws are not retractable and must be included.
-Their fur is sleek around the head, hands, and feet, and fluffy everywhere else.
-You must credit me ssleepy for the species! This way others can find this sheet and make their own was well <3

Read ahead to learn about Bärca traits!

Snowflake Anatomy Snowflake

Bärca are stout beings with short strong limbs and blubberous bellies. They are very wide and tall, reaching about 7 feet in height! Though big, they are total cuddle bugs and often sleep in piles to keep warm. Their body temperature is higher than humans, and their fur is downy and soft while also being waterproof. Because they have adapted to live in communities on land their bodies aren't quite as sleek as their cousins the orcas, because of this they aren't very fast swimmers, though they have amazing stamina and can swim for many miles. Because of this they are mostly ambush hunters and use tools like spears as well as their own claws and teeth to hunt large prey. Often they wait in the water, only coming up to breath every 20 minutes. Their claws and strange thumb-like toes help them grip the ice, sometimes pushing icebergs to create traps for game. Their limbs are surprisingly dexterous and they can even hold tools with their monkey-like feet! Their faces are famous for their puppydog-like expressions with big glossy eyes that shine like moons and a friendly smile. Don't be fooled however, because that jaw houses a row of sharp teeth that can crush with enough force to take an arm!

Northern Vs. Southern Bärca

Northern Bärca are the biggest, strongest, and fattest of the Bärca species. They are slow but strong enough to tackle huge game head on. They generally hunt whales, polar bears, seals, everything! They have a very blubber rich diet. They specialize in armors, tools made of whale bone, and weaponry.

Southern Bärca are slightly smaller and sleeker and are the faster of the two. These Bärca eat smaller game such as penguins, other sea birds, and seals. They specialize in medicine, the fur trade, and a special elixir made from krill.

Your Bärca could be either of the two! They could even be a mix who now lives with humans, it's up to you~

Is this color/design approved?
I love these so much btw.
